Position Description

Young Nak Church of Toronto is a multi-generational missional church located in the city of Toronto under the leadership of our Senior Pastor, Rev. Dae-Hyuk Jeon. Young Nak is a member church of the Korean Presbyterian Church Abroad (KPCA). We are working towards an interdependent model of church in which EM (City on a Hill) and KM are building bridges to better understand one another, and creating opportunities to serve together as an effective witness of the gospel. The EM Associate Pastor works under and reports directly to the Senior Pastor and the Session of Elders.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A deep devotional life that is centred on God’s word and prayer
• Faithful exposition of God’s word to various contexts
• A shepherd’s heart that cares for the Lord’s Church and its members
• Christ-like love and character
• Biblically qualified pastor, elder, shepherd, teacher
• M.Div. graduate from an ATS accredited seminary
• 5+ years of ministry experience preferably pastoring in an EM context or equivalent
• KPCA ordained or able to transfer from a recognized denomination
• Legally able to work in Canada
• Understands and can navigate first-generation Korean and second-generation Korean mentality and culture
• Fluency in English required (written and verbal). Ability to communicate in Korean is an asset, but not required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ministering to all CoaH (City on a Hill) members in accordance with the vision and ministry of Young Nak Church
• Leading weekly Sunday worship as part of a preaching rotation
• Administering Sacraments (Baptism & Communion), leading marriage and funeral ceremonies, and other events as needed)
• Equipping lay leaders to do the work of ministry (Elders, Deacons, Life Group leaders, and various other ministry volunteers)
• Pastoral visitations and counselling
• Leading short-term mission trips and joint short-term mission trips with the KM
• Leading and organizing annual retreats
• Fostering fellowship with KM through church-wide events
• Attending weekly pastoral staff meetings
• Submitting weekly ministry reports to the Senior Pastor
• Overseeing and submitting yearly ministry plans and budgets
• Working with pastors in the English-speaking Education ministries (Pre-Kindergarten, Children’s, Youth)
