JOB DESCRIPTION

Highfield Baptist Church seeks to be the “heart of Christ in the heart of Moncton.” To this end, we are looking for a God Loving, Spirit Led, Follower of Jesus who has strong people skills in areas of discipleship and mentoring within the church and networking and connecting to the community outside of the church. They should be creative thinkers who are not afraid to try new things and be able to learn and grow from past failures.

Next Generation ministry oversees all ministry areas that impact the family and next generation within the church. The position will be responsible for oversight and coordinating with key ministry leaders focused on, but not limited to, children, youth, and young adults. They will be the point person to provide training, direction, and encouragement for the ministry leaders.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Next Generation Associate Pastor is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the coordination of all programs for children, youth, and young adults
  • Developing relationships with this age group through personal visits, pastoral care and counselling
  • Confirming that every volunteer working in children’s and/or youth ministries is in compliance with the church’s Child Protection Policy.
  • Developing a team of volunteers to be creative and innovative with regard to the above ministries
  • Watching for opportunities to engage others who are gifted for ministry to children, youth and young adults
  • Ensuring there are regular opportunities for fellowship, discipleship, teaching and worship for these individuals
  • Being the voice for children, youth and young adults in the vision and direction of the church
  • Preparing and preaching messages as requested
  • Assisting in the administration of the Church as per the Lead Pastor’s request
  • Attending church staff meetings regularly
  • Completing all reporting information as requested
  • Overseeing community outreach events (e.g., “Trunk or Treat” and “Easter Scavenger Hunt”)
  • Attending board meetings as a staff representative (e.g., Christian Education and Deacon’s boards)
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor, or his designate.

PARTICULARS OF THE POSITION

The Next Generation Associate Pastor will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor, or his designate. This is a full-time position (typically expected to work 37.5 hours per week). It will be an open contract requiring a minimum of two weeks’ notice, by either party, in order to conclude the agreement. Salary and benefits will be negotiated based on experience and qualification.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

The candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Demonstrates a consistent walk with the Lord that shows evidence of salvation through trusting in Jesus as Saviour
  • Be capable of working flexible hours with minimal direct supervision
  • Demonstrates sound organizational skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Successfully passes a RCMP background check
  • Agrees to the doctrinal beliefs of Highfield Baptist Church
  • Is willing to become a member of Highfield Baptist Church.

Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully completed a degree of post-secondary education in biblical studies, or equivalent
  • Experience in the field of Christian ministry to children, youth, and/or young adults.
