Position Description

The Youth Pastor works collaboratively with church staff and volunteers to help achieve the Vision and Mission of Crossview Church through providing leadership and oversight to the youth ministry of the church.

Reporting to the Executive Pastor, the performance of the Youth Pastor is evaluated against the following identified responsibilities and annually defined objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Church Culture

The Youth Pastor actively models the Crossview Church culture (see Crossview Pillars graphic); beginning in their own personal life and spreading through the staff and volunteer teams in which they function.

Vision & Strategy

In collaboration with the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor, the Youth Pastor develops a long-term strategy for the youth ministry of the church; this strategy needs to align with the Crossview Church Vision, Mission and Values and shall be reviewed and updated annually.

Leadership

The Youth Pastor provides ongoing leadership to all aspects of Crossview Church youth ministries; training and developing youth ministry volunteers, planning and executing weekly youth programming and special events including annual retreats. As the leader of a Crossview ministry area, the Youth Pastor works to create a sense of community and connection among the volunteers in the youth ministry. The Youth Pastor participates in staff meetings, representing the youth ministry perspective and contributing to a broad range of discussions regarding Crossview culture and activities.

Leadership Development

The Youth Pastor recruits, trains, motivates and develops volunteers; mentoring them using intentional strategies which promote both leadership skills and spiritual growth and maturity.

Personal Development

The Youth Pastor pursues growth as a follower of Jesus and as an effective leader of people.

Budget

In collaboration with the Executive Pastor, the Youth Pastor develops an annual budget and manages within the approved budget to wisely utilize church resources and maximize ministry opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• As a Crossview Church leader, the Youth Pastor’s life needs to demonstrate wisdom, and integrity in family, church and community life; successful and healthy relationships characterized by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
• Agree with the Statement of Faith as set out in the Crossview Church Constitution.
• A member of, or willing to become a member of Crossview Church.
• Strong interpersonal skills: clear verbal and written form communication that consistently places high value on healthy relationships.
• Previous leadership experience in a youth-related position is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated record of effective teamwork in both participant and leadership roles
• Organizational and time management skills and ability to delegate effectively.

• Clear criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector check) and Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks.

Located in Steinbach, Manitoba, Crossview Church is a non-denominational mid-sized church hosting in person and livestream weekend worship services. As shown in the graphic below, our foundation is the Bible, and we strive to worship Jesus with our whole lives! The teaching at Crossview encourages us to live motivated by love, not fear with an emotionally healthy spirituality and rhythm of life (Crossview services and sermons may be viewed on YouTube). While we offer ministries and programs for all ages birth through seniors; we are a young church with children age birth through Grade 6 making up approximately 25% of the church. The Crossview youth program led by the youth pastor and 20+ volunteer leaders, draws approximately 120 youth (Grade 7 – 12) each Wednesday evening! This church demographic is exciting and brings energy and joy to Crossview!
